What to install

Tap Join in your invite email. The page it opens takes you to Elk’s download page, which has Elk for every device below.

Elk is private for now, so the download page asks for a password. The person who invited you can give it to you.

Mac

A direct download, signed and notarized by Apple. Open it and drag Elk into Applications. macOS 14 or later

iPhone and iPad

Elk is in beta on Apple’s TestFlight. Apple has you install the free TestFlight app first, then Elk. iOS 17 or later

Windows

A direct download. The installer is not signed yet, so Windows may say it protected your PC: choose More info, then Run anyway. Windows 10 or later

Android

A direct download. Open it and allow the install when your phone asks. Android 8 or later

New to Elk

Sign in with the email address your invite was sent to, and you land in the workspace. There is nothing else to enter, on any device. Signing in needs no password: Elk emails you a six-digit code each time.

Signing in with a different email? Elk cannot match that address to the invite, so use the Join button or the code below.

Already use Elk

If you already have an Elk account, signing in again does not add the workspace. Accept the invite in Elk on a Mac, iPhone or iPad: tap Join in your invite email there, or enter the code.

What the code is for

The code looks like H82B-F53R. The Join button is the quick way in; the code is the backup. Use it when the button does not open Elk, or when you sign in with a different email from the one invited.

Enter it in Elk on a Mac, iPhone or iPad. New to Elk: after you sign in, Elk shows the Enter your invite code screen. Already use Elk: choose Add workspace first. You can type the code with or without the dash.

If your link has expired

Each invite works once, and expires on the date at the bottom of your invite email. If the page says your link isn’t valid, it has been used, cancelled, or has expired.

Ask the person who invited you to send a new invite. If you already joined with this one, there is nothing more to do: open Elk and you are in.
